5. Katniss Destroys Takes Aim - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Katniss Everdeen has already been through hell and back, and we've still got two films to go. Not only did she volunteer to take her sister's place in the Hunger Games, but she was also forced back into the arena in Catching Fire thanks to a colourful loophole that allowed for a major rule change. We watched with grief as her name was chosen again, the lone scrap of paper at the bottom of a bowl stuffed full only a year ago. The first film in the Hunger Games series managed to introduce us to Katniss and the world of Panem, but Catching Fire succeeded in raising the stakes and showing us how bad things really are. We disliked The Capital in the first film (they do watch children fight to the death, after all), but grew to hate them in Catching Fire. Making it all the more satisfying when Katniss wraps a wire around an arrow and shoots it into the sky; destroying the arena and ending the 75th annual Hunger Games. Because we've seen Katniss go through so much, and because the film succeeded in showing us why we should hate the Capital, the surge of excitement when she lets that arrow fly is palpable and exhilarating.
