10 Scandals That Shocked Hollywood To The Core

1. Twilight Zone: The Movie

twilight zone Twilight Zone: The Movie is a highly watchable horror film. However, the terrible tragedy that happened on set leaves a bad taste when you watch it - you cannot fully enjoy it. An anthology of scary stories, when John Landis was filming his contribution - Time Out, a dreadful accident occurred on set. The accident occurred on a late night shoot in July 1982. Landis was directing a scene in which veteran actor Vic Morrow's character was attempting to save two Vietnamese children during the Vietnam war. A major cock up occurred between the pyrotechnics on the ground and a low flying helicopter. The pyrotechnic people sent two explosions very close together and hit the helicopter - forcing it into free fall and landing on Morrow and the two children - instantly killing them by either being crushed or decapitated. The scene was caught from three different angles. In the aftermath of the tragedy, it came to light that the two young actors should never have been on such a dangerous set and because they were working at night, it was violation of the Californian child labour laws. Everyone involved with making the movie - from John Landis down - denied all knowledge of these laws. Furthermore, the children were being paid under the table. There was legal action brought against Landis and his crew that lasted nearly a decade. They were acquitted of manslaughter and the case rocked Hollywood. It was a very macabre incident that sticks in the mind when you think of Hollywood scandals.
