10 Scariest CGI Movie Monsters
8. Pennywise - IT
While this may seem out of place, being as Pennywise is oftentimes not CGI and portrayed admirably by the incredibly talented Bill Skarsgard, it is when Pennywise is CGI that he becomes truly nightmarish.
This image is first introduced when Pennywise tears off George Denborough's arm in the first movie, but it is in the sequel that we see just how visually terrifying Pennywise can become, with his rows of razor-sharp teeth, like a shark's, his gigantic mouth, and his haunting, hungry eyes.
In IT 2, this image is heightened. This is shown from the beginning, when we see Pennywise actually feed on one of his victims, tearing out the flesh on his chest. Pennywise in IT 2 dials up the fear on a number of occasions, notably the hall of mirrors scene, where he kills a small child that Bill Denbourough, played by the equally talented James McAvoy, has tried to save. Pennywise's terrifying, toothy smile is a haunting image that sticks with you.
This is to say nothing of his final form in the movie, which sees him transform into a giant crab-like creature with pincer-claws.
Pennywise was the original creepy clown, and the design in the reboot shows just how creepy this clown can be.
