10 Scariest CGI Movie Monsters

9. Clover - Cloverfield

When Cloverfield came out, it seemed like another found footage film crossed with the giant creature-feature trope. It was when the audience actually saw the titular monster, Clover, that the movie turned into something truly special.

Where Clover stood away from the classic likes of Godzilla and King Kong was its manoeuvrability. Crashing through the city, darting between buildings, Clover is seen to be an unstoppable force that seemed to want to actively wipe out humanity at its feet.

The true fear in the movie, however, comes from the spider-like creatures that Clover releases on the city, which seem so incredibly alien, yet too eerily familiar. These little creatures tear through the city and kill all in their path. This is brought to its height in the scene in the subway tunnels, where the creatures came out of the dark in the enclosed tunnel.

Clover's appearence instills the classic fear of giant monsters and of something unstoppable, combined with a truly nightmarish creature design, CLover tops the giant monster genre and classic monsters like Godzilla and King Kong to be one of the scariest monsters to grace film.
