If someone asked you what the best thing about Ghostbusters was, it's probably fair to assume your mind didn't leap straight to the scene where Sigourney Weaver opens her fridge and encounters a fiery alternate realm. Amazingly, there are a total of three horror films in existence about demonic refrigerators.

1991's The Refrigerator tells the story of a couple who move to a rundown New York apartment that comes with a nice-looking refrigerator that has the ability to cause insanity for the residents and is also a portal to Hell for its victims when dragged inside its frosty doors.

The protagonist couple, Steve and Eileen, are given multiple warnings about the refrigerator being evil and a door to Hell by an old gypsy woman, who urges them to leave and move away while they still can. But they do not heed her cautionary words, of course. The refrigerator crushes various people and takes over Steve's mind, convincing him that he should sacrifice Eileen to appease it, leading to the couple being attacked by various kitchen appliances controlled by the demon cool-box.

Luckily, Eileen is saved at the last minute by the heroic apartment plumber and they escape, but the film ends with the unscrupulous landlord renovating the apartment for the next unlucky inhabitants.
