2. Insidious - Demonic Face Jump Scare
The jump scares of all jump scares.
Whenever you mention James Wan's Insidious to anyone, the one thing they're bound to say is the jump scare of the red face demon that appears behind Josh Lambert. As Lorraine describes a dream about the red-faced demon, the demon suddenly appears behind Josh, causing Lorraine to double back in fear.
The jump scare wouldn't be as effective as it was if it wasn't for Wan's expert camera work and simple storytelling. As Lorraine is telling the story, the scene keeps switching back and forth between Lorraine and Josh for about two minutes until the demon finally appears.
Even though the audience knew something was going to happen, the prolonging of the story and constant camera switches made it unknown as to where the scare was going to come from, catching us all off guard when the demon's face finally showed up.
The sudden burst of music from an otherwise quiet scene also made the jump scare as infamous and memorable as it is now.
