9. Willy Wonka's Boat Ride (Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory)
Another "kids film" that was way more sinister than it had any right to be, Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory featured some absolutely psychopathic actions from our titular hero, to the extent that there's a fairly compelling argument that he was a complete psychpath. Whether he was letting kids drown in his chocolate waterfall, getting pissy over Charlie stealing a mouthful of fizzy lifting drink or just in general being an all around shut-away dictator, it's no surprise so many edits have shown up over the years transforming it wholesale into a straight-up horror film. And at the centrepiece of all these edits, quite rightly so, is the psychedelic boat scene that takes place on Wonka's chocolate river. Shepherding all of the visiting kids and their parents into a boat in order to travel to the next part of the factory, proceedings quickly take a turn for the weird as Wonka goes dead-eyed and starts reciting a rather sinister tune. Not only is the scene itself terrifying, but the behind the scenes story does a great deal to explain just why the moment is so unnerving. Allegedly, no one in the cast knew exactly what was going to be happening in the scene, so when Wonka starts screaming at the top of his lungs and everything goes dark around them, they were probably just as weirded out as we were. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X48RiKQmFQ
