Although it's not a straight, through-and-through horror film, David Fincher's Se7en does indeed owe a great deal to the the genre. From the menacing cinematography to the overbearing bleakness of the plot, the director's sinister detective story takes more than a few design and editing cues from classic horror films. And while any of the seven deadly sins inspired murders could have potentially featured on this list, it's the discovery of the Sloth character that definitely takes the cake for the most haunting scene in the film. Upon finding the rotting corpse of an unidentified victim in a stinking, filthy apartment, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman's detective duo are treated to their most nausea-inducing crime scene yet. Unfortunately for them, just when they think their day couldn't get any worse, the unthinkable happens: the decomposing corpse lying on the bed suddenly moves. As it turns out, the victim hasn't actually died, but is slowly in the process of starving to death, riddled with illness and infection. It's a shocking revelation, and it makes for the scariest moment of the movie by far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8m69o_1PoQ
