The Venom symbiote has bonded with a countless number of heroes, villains, creatures and things throughout the long history of Marvel Comics.
When Earth-65's Gwen Stacy gained spider powers, it was only a matter of time before the black goo attached itself to the alternate-universe heroine, and this finally happened in Spider-Gwen #25 by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez.
These things are always short-lived, but seeing Spider-Gwen get in touch with her dark side was cool all the same. Although she's a character who could join Sony's Spider-Verse to make up for the absence of Peter Parker himself, don't expect to see Emma Stone appearing in Venom in this capacity.
There may be legal issue preventing Sony from using Gwen Stacy in the movie, not that this is the only reason the Gwenon plotline won't be adapted anytime soon.
Venom will be Eddy Brock's story first and foremost, although if they get Carnage right, there's a possibility Tom Hardy will face steep competition for the spotlight.
