Michael Bay isn't known for his subtle attention to detail. Far from it.

The director is an advocate of dramatic explosions and larger than life action, which is what we got plenty of during 1998's end of the world sci-fi ensemble feature Armageddon.

Bay clearly felt that if audiences were distracted enough by the heart-stopping situations being presented to them on-screen, they wouldn't be in a position to dissect some of the blink-and-you'll-miss-them mistakes on show throughout his flick.

Yet, as time has gone by (22 years to be exact!) fans have had multiple chances to re-watch the asteroid adventure and one distinct moment has left them scratching their heads.

After Ben Affleck's A.J. has successfully jumped the Armadillo over a canyon on the asteroid, Peter Stormare's Lev can be seen pulling himself back towards the vehicle. However, if you look closely, you'll spot that the terrain next to the armadillo is actually grass which isn't something you'd expect to find on an asteroid lacking air or water... or any real groundskeeping.

You should probably be seated for this, but it looks like this scene wasn't actually filmed on an asteroid floating through space. More likely it was shot on a hill somewhere on Earth.
