10 Sci-Fi Movie Moments That Pissed Off Fans

1. Luke Throws The Lightsaber Away - Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars fans have come to expect the odd dose of dodgy humour shoehorned into their films from Disney (because god knows that's what the series was known for and based its successes off in the past) but, if they were trying to make a funny scene here, they got it all wrong.

For the most part, The Force Awakens is a fairly safe, fun time. A blatant rip off of A New Hope, it concludes with Rey finally coming across the legendary Luke Skywalker during his self-isolation. The first time Mark Hamill had been shown as Luke since Return of the Jedi, it's a memorable moment and closes up with Rey holding out the most iconic weapon in all of science fiction: the Skywalker lightsaber.

Present in every single Star Wars film since Attack of the Clones, it has become such an important part of the lore and history of everything fans had gone through before.

So seeing this monumental cliffhanger and incredible item literally tossed away was like a jab to the heart. Whilst it probably got a few trickles of laughter out of some crowds, this one moment felt like the point in which Disney really ripped up any hopes of The Last Jedi being a strong addition to the franchise for some fans to enjoy.
