10 Sci-Fi Movie Moments That Pissed Off Fans

8. Agent Smith's Evil Laugh - Matrix: Revolutions

Terminator Dark Fate
Warner Bros.

For the most part, Agent Smith is the embodiment of a truly chilling villain. Portrayed by Hugo Weaving, he is an agent inside the Matrix and tasked with seeking out and removing any threats to the stability of the system. As a computerised entity, Agent Smith's true terror comes from his remorseless nature. He is cold, emotionless and brutally efficient in thwarting the efforts of the resistance.

That all goes down the pan in one single moment in the final film of the trilogy however. After absorbing the Oracle and taking over the Matrix fully, Smith slowly turns to face the camera and gradually breaks out into a large smile before beginning to laugh maniacally.

His mouth spreads ridiculously wide and the laugh itself is a proper classic evil hollywood baddie effort. Agent Smith then uses his enhanced powers and bad guy laugh to then make it start raining and set a pretty gloomy tone for the remainder of the film.

The first two Matrix films had the odd moment of humour nestled in to keep things ticking along, but this was just a step way too far.
