10 Sci-Fi Movie Remakes That Need To Happen

8. Re-Animator

Herbert West, Re-Animator is a fascinating addition to the H.P Lovecraft library. The man known for generating mind-blowing existential cosmic horror created a story that is plenty of fun, and the film series based on this character took the narrative and ran with it. This trilogy of films form a collection that is gory, campy and incredibly engaging.

Herbert West is a new student who arrives at Miskatonic University in Arkham and has a history of performing dangerous scientific experiments. Soon some locals end up involved in his bizarre efforts to re-animate dead tissue, and things escalate dramatically.

This film doesn't take itself too seriously at all, and that allows for the comedy moments to ultimately shine. In addition to this, the lack of severity means that the more frightening and gory elements have a significant impact as they contrast the general tone.

This property seems like the perfect subject matter for Shudder to adapt, as it would fit in well with the library that they have already amassed. The campy and silly approach to the science fiction aspects of the film would make it a welcome sight in our modern-day, as it would complement the over-saturated seriousness of contemporary sci-fi.
