10 Sci-Fi Movie Remakes That Need To Happen

2. A Clockwork Orange

Outland 1981
Warner Bros.

This Anthony Burgess novel made waves in the literary community for its grotesque depiction of a future world, and strange employment of a colloquial language called Nadsat. This made reading it difficult at times for you had to work out the translations autonomously, and that carried over into the Kubrick led adaptation. This film is challenging but utterly brilliant and efficiently acts as one of the genre's most profound and well-respected movies.

It tells the story of Alex, a young and sadistic teen living in a futuristic society that is full of ultra-violence. After a mishap that results in a brutal murder, he is sent to jail and forced to undergo an experimental treatment designed to eradicate crime. The film plays less like a movie and more a movement, with its attention to flow and musical accompaniment making it almost like a symphony.

A modern approach to the film and subject matter could be a compelling way to explore this material and give it a new aesthetic to challenge the firmly embedded one that viewers already have.

Kubrick made a phenomenal product that likely won't ever be bested, but a new direction could reveal some more marketable elements and bring the title to a mainstream audience.
