10 Sci-Fi Movie Sequels That Are Practically Flawless

Back to James Cameron now and another example of how a film series changing genres can be a good thing.

The original Terminator film was scary. Arnold Schwarzenegger cut a menacing figure as the unstoppable android, mercilessly hunting down Sarah Connor in order to change the future. However, when the T-800 returns for the sequel, he is almost unrecognisable.

The stern-faced killer fans saw in the first movie is replaced by a much more affable character when Arnie is reprogrammed for good. He adopts a more fish out of water stance, an android who has to learn human conventions with the help of a young John Connor.

Whilst some could see this as a neutering of the Terminator, others rightfully see it as making way for a much more terrifying villain - the T-1000.

Almost indestructible thanks to its liquid metal composition, the T-1000 is easily one of film's greatest ever antagonists, to the point where actor Robert Patrick is known for very little else these days.

A radical departure from its first installment, Terminator 2 definitely changed for the better and is remembered fondly as one of the best action movies ever made for very good reason.
