*Sigh*

For fans of Marvel Comics, Ultron is one of the most intriguing, fascinating, clinical villains to have ever jumped from the pages of comic books, period. As such, the reveal that Ultron was to be the main villain of the second Avengers movie had those same fans eager to see what devilish delights this robotic wrong 'un would bring to the silver screen.

While it was a tad disappointing to realise that this version of Ultron would be slightly different to the comic book villain whose origins were tied to Hank Pym, the actual introduction of the MCU Ultron and his origin actually worked quite well within the confines of this greater cinematic universe.

Unfortunately though, Ultron was never fully utilised throughout that picture, with only glimpses of the robotic rogue's truly sinister potential. And then, to add insult to injury, the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron saw Ultron go out with a whimper as Vision took the villain down before Scarlet Witch finished him off in a completely forgettable way - as the audience soon realised that the movie was more about setting up friction between Earth's Mightiest Heroes down the line, rather than establishing Ultron as a genuinely great villain.
