10 Sci-Fi Movies Audiences Walked Out Of
6. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Rumours of walkouts at test screenings dogged Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, only for director JJ Abrams to point out no such screenings had taken place. However, another film in the Star Wars franchise did suffer at least one walk out.
Despite a broadly positive critical response, The Last Jedi remains one of the more divisive entries in the franchise amongst fans. It might not surprise you, then, to learn the film had one high profile, celebrity audience member seeking the exits.
When political commentator Anderson Cooper confessed to walking out of Rian Johnson’s space opera, he maintained the film's quality had nothing to do with it. Cooper admitted to chat show host Stephen Colbert that the film didn’t hold his full attention but apparently the problem was Cooper’s own busy schedule.
“I actually saw it last night and I walked out. I know, I'm sorry. I got a lot going on. I had a lot of work to do, I had a lot on my mind. It wasn't in protest. I'm gonna go see it again. I just, I had too much in my head. I went down to the theater on 23rd Street, about 45 minutes in, yeah, I was like, 'I'm not giving this the attention it deserves.' This deserved my attention; I'm not giving it my attention.”
History doesn’t record if Cooper ever found the time to watch the film to its conclusion.
