4. Audrey II Kills Seymour & Alien Plants Take Over The World - Little Shop Of Horrors

Anyone who's seen Little Shop of Horrors on stage will know that it doesn't end anything like it does in the film, with Seymour and Audrey surviving an attack from an alien planet, moving to the suburbs and living happily ever after. Whilst that ending was sure to please audiences (and indeed, that was the point given that it was changed as a result of negative test screenings), it kind of betrays the feel - and the point - of the source material. That's to say, Little Shop of Horrors is a rather cynical and pessimistic show that set out to punish its central characters with a brutally bleak ending. It's a shame that the studio didn't have the balls to go through with the original climax, then, which would have seen Audrey II killing Audrey and Seymour as countless other man-eating alien plants take over New York and subsequently the world. Though this expensive ending was shot, it was abandoned and is now the stuff of legend (though it is available to view in its entirely on YouTube, in case you're interested).
