10 Sci-Fi Movies That Wasted Incredible Premises

2. Alien Vs. Predator

Premise: The antagonists of the Alien and Predator franchises face off in a pyramid deep beneath the icy landscapes of Antarctica.

How did this one go so badly wrong?

The title alone implies an absolutely blast, but instead Alien Vs. Predator is a tame, toothless, PG-13 dud that feels more like a badly edited, poorly lit video game fight scene than an actual movie. Factor in the messy plot and under-developed characters and there's very little to recommend this one overall. In fact, it's almost as bad as 1997's Alien: Resurrection.

An even worse sequel followed in 2007, but there have thankfully been no more AVP movies since then. Still, both the Alien and Predator franchises are currently going through a rough patch of awful sequels; it's time to retire both franchises at this point.
