For its gloriously cinematic disregard for subtlety, there was never a question as to where this sci-fi epic would place on the list. Excluding a meagre handful, the humans in the world of Avatar have not one kind bone in their body, thinking nothing of committing genocide just to gain access to a rich deposit of the precious mineral, unobtanium.

Colonel Miles Quaritch, a veteran of the planet Pandora, tasks the former marine, Jake Sully, to win the hearts and minds of the native Na'vi race using an artificial body called an avatar. Disguised as a Na'vi, Jake earns the tribe's trust, but cannot convince them to abandon their home, as was his mission.

As a result, Quaritch launches a full-scale attack on the Na'vi's Hometree, forcing them to evacuate. Jake, along with the Na'vi tribe and the team of scientists, organises a counterattack that turns into an all-out war for Pandora.

Little else need be said here, really. To Quaritch and his men, the Na'vi are merely insects standing in the way of what they want, and if obtaining their unobtanium means trampling on the entire population one by one, then so be it. This time, we're rooting for the blue guys.
