10 Sci-Fi Movies You Must Never Pause

3. Poorly Composited Bruce Banner - Avengers: Infinity War

Much like T2, Avengers: Infinity War is a technical landmark with some undeniably innovative visual effects, particularly its mind-bogglingly impressive depiction of Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin).

It's a bit baffling, then, that the comparatively simple task - not to undermine the enormous complexity of what VFX artists do - of compositing Mark Ruffalo into the Hulkbuster armour isn't nearly as convincing.

When Thor (Chris Hemsworthy) makes his spectacular entrance during the film's climactic Wakanda battle, we cut to Bruce Banner (Ruffalo) in his armour, laughing as he tells the Outriders, "You guys are so screwed now!"

And yet, Ruffalo's head just sort of bobs and floats around without any sense of weight to it - we're never made to believe he's really residing within the gorgeous rendering of the Hulkbuster itself.

Additionally, the lighting doesn't quite match which makes the whole thing look a bit "off," like an upmarket phone filter rather than something you'd expect to see in a $400 million movie.

It doesn't look great in motion either, but at least it passes quickly.
