10 Scrapped Movie Sequels That Would Have Been Amazing

7. Mathilda (Leon 2)

According to director Olivier Megaton, the script that eventually became 2011's downright sloppy and misguided Colombiana was supposed to become a follow-up to the universally-beloved Leon: The Professional. It makes a certain amount of sense. Luc Besson, who directed Leon, is a credited producer on Colombiana, and he and Megaton have a long history together. But... that just can't be true. Because Colombiana was terrible. And anything involving the original elements of Leon would never be terrible. Regardless, issues in securing the rights to the characters and getting Natalie Portman on board at the right time kept Megaton from being able to delve fully into a sequel. A year before Colombiana self-destructed across theaters, however, Portman had expressed interest in acting in the sequel as long as Besson was the one behind the camera. The character of Mathilda wasn't exactly left in the best of predicaments when the original film ended, so it would be nice to see a more fitting epilogue to her story. Not a happy ending, so much as a chance for her own brand of vengeance. Speaking of which...
