4. Peter Venkman - Ghostbusters (1984-1989)
Peter Venkman should be a giant nerd. As a parapsychologist he has the same job as his colleagues Ray and Egon, genuine nerds and life long subscribers to 'Binary Code and Me' magazine but comes across as one of the coolest people on the plant rather than a dandruff encrusted spook investigator. Why? Two words. Bill Freakin' Murray. Murray's Venkman has been described as the ultimate New York Hero, an outwardly cynical and flippant guy who harbours a secret sweet-nature. That's all Murray folks. Venkman may have nerd-like PhDs in both parapsychology and psychology but Bill is as far away from 'giant nerd' as you can get.
