10 Seemingly Great Films That Unravelled On A Second Viewing

2. Star Wars: Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi

Okay, so maybe it took more than two viewings - and perhaps "adulthood" - for people to realise that something wasn't quite right about Star Wars: Episode VI, but it's probably true to say that most people thought that was a good Star Wars flick the first time they sat down to watch. Aside from the Ewoks, it was cool, right? If you've only seen this movie once, though, and retain fond memories of it, seek out a copy and prepare to be shocked: Jedi is a surprisingly lame episode, all said and done: it's kind of cheesy, is badly-plotted and is - on occasion - totally cringe-inducing. Obviously enamoured by the fact that this was the last Star Wars movie - it was the one that tied up the saga with a nice neat bow, cemented the relationship between Luke and Vader, and allowed Han and Leia to finally become a couple, after all - it's almost as if everybody forget that this was nowhere up to the standards of Episodes V and IV. There are some good parts: the opening sequence on Jabba's sail barge; the final space battle (but even that's a reprise), but it's noticeably lackluster. Worst of all, it made Han Solo a wimp - nobody wanted to see that!
