10 Sequels That Ruined Great Movie Endings

10. Blues Brothers 2000

Blues Brothers 2000 is a sequel that makes you question the thought process behind any Hollywood movie. The 1980 original was a cult darling, inspiring an entire generation of Halloween costumes, but why after 18 years did John Landis and Dan Akroyd decide a follow up was necessary? Hell, a bunch of the original actors had passed away, and the studio was interfering at every step, but they pushed on, believing in the story they wanted to tell.

Sadly, that story was pretty damn terrible, and as you might have guessed considering it's here on this list, pissed all over the climax of the last film.

The first Blues Brothers was funny and irreverent, but had stakes thanks to the titular brothers' attempts to pay off the tax bill of the orphanage they were raised in. This is their "mission from god", and they manage to pull it off before getting arrested by what appears to be the combined might of every police force in America.

2000 picks up 18 years later as Akroyd's Elwood is released from prison to find out his brother his dead, his friend is dead, and the orphanage he went to jail for was destroyed.

Yay?
