10 Sequels That Ruined Great Movie Endings

7. Rambo: Last Blood

In a way, you could argue that pretty much every movie after the first Rambo (which wasn't even called Rambo) actively worked against its ending. The original is all about the titular character dealing with the effects of war after returning home, but the sequels turned him into a big ol' war machine.

The thing is though, for the most part they get away with it by being bloody good action movies. Sure, they might be a departure, but at least they're well made, fun, and undeniably turned Rambo into a household name.

The fourth movie wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but it had heart, calling back to the prior movies and giving the character a sense of closure, as he puts the killing behind him to live with his remaining family.

For some reason, 10 years later the world decided it needed yet another film starring 73-year-old Stallone ripping the hearts out of the chests of bad guys, and Rambo: Last Blood was born. Despite its title referencing the first film, it has nothing in common with it, and functions purely as a forgettable, generic action movie.

You could have brought Rambo out of retirement for a considered send-off, but this sours the natural ending of 2008's picture for a plot so bad, the creator of the character disowned it entirely.
