10 Sequels To Incredible Movies Nobody Asked For
2. Blade Runner 2049
Unlike many of the films on this list, Blade Runner 2049 is an enjoyable and very well made effort in its own right. Sadly it was made so long after the original that it meant it would never be able to live up to the standards set by the first back in 1982.
Blade Runner 2049 follows K, a Nexus-9 replicant 30 years after the events of the first movie. He is trying to find out more about his origins and whether he is in fact a real human or not. One of the biggest points of contention is that the 2017 sequel has such a different look and tone to the original, as well as being helmed by director Denis Villeneuve rather than Ridley Scott.
Another difference was that sonically 1982's Blade Runner soundtrack was handled by Greek composer Vangelis, whereas 2049's music was handled by Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfish.
On its cinematic release Blade Runner 2049 received mixed reviews. It garnered acclaim for its visuals, effects, acting, and even the new soundtrack. Some however just couldn't get past the flick's over two and a half hour runtime and its reliance on call backs and nostalgia baiting of the original.
