8. Dewangee (Primal Fear)
To be fair to them, as far as Bollywood rip-offs go, this one could have been a lot worse; lead actor Ajay Devgan won Best Villain at the Indian version of the Oscars, complementing Edward Norton's Oscar nomination for the same role. The original Primal Fear is an intense, exhilarating thriller that keeps you guessing right up until its final, devastating twist, cementing Norton's potential to become one of the best actors of his generation, which he duly fulfilled. And while Devgan won the Best Villain award, that doesn't exactly speak much for his acting chops, because the guy doesn't have a might of the screen presence and scarcely-contained psychopathy of Norton's superb antagonist. It's just another case of Bollywood taking a concept that is entirely inappropriate to transpose onto their style of storytelling, and screwing it up completely as a result, although raising the odd chuckle as they do so, admittedly.
