10 Shocking (But Believable) Theories About Upcoming Movies
2. The Hard Drive Is Found Bond 24
Now the dust has settled its clear the contention Skyfall could be the best Bond film wasn't just release-based hyperbole. Sam Mendes kicked the franchise back into full gear, melding old and new styles for a self-aware film that posed the question of whether 007 still applies in the modern day (the answer is a resounding yes). Some people, however, are never satisfied and thus every little problem (of which there are few) was blown wide. Chief among them were plot concerns. Silvas plan was silly and required on more coincidences than Loki and the Jokers similar tricks combined, but the biggie was the hard drive. The MacGuffin that kicked the whole plot into motion, the list of all of MI6s undercover agents was quickly forgotten about when James realised he had a contender for most unhinged secret service operative; after the first list of operatives is released, no-one mentions it again. Its a fair criticism, but with Mendes currently on board for the films follow-up (please dont say sequel we remember Quantum Of Solace all too clearly) it's odds-on that this particular thread will be tied up. Throwaway line, opening sequence or driving plot point, it doesnt really matter; even if it wasnt top of the directors list, the persistence of inconsistencies-based criticisms should be enough to get him to give the plot strand a conclusion.
