10 Shocking Comic Book Movie Moments That Came Out Of Nowhere

Kingsman 2 was full of shocking moments: the film started by completely decimating the Kingsman, including killing off Roxy, and then subsequently revealed that Harry/Galahad had managed to survive a bullet to the head thanks to the help of the Statesmen.

After all that, but especially the bit where almost every Kingsman was killed off, one would assume the writers would refrain from delivering any more shocks to the system. Such an assumption would be incorrect.

While sneaking into Poppy Adams' jungle complex, Eggsy decided it would be a good idea to step on a mine. To remedy the issue, Merlin has the even brighter idea of taking his place. A touching scene follows as Merlin draws some guards to his position with a lovely rendition of John Denver's 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' before he blows them (and himself) up with the aforementioned mine.

It was surprising to be sure. Judging by how easily Eggsy & Harry were able to defeat the rest of the guards though, it also now seems pretty unnecessary.
