If you haven't seen the horror western Bone Tomahawk, been warned, it's graphic stuff. Director S Craig Zahler has a reputation for making ultra-violent movies such as Brawl In Cell Block 99 and Dragged Across Concrete, and his debut Bone Tomahawk is one hell of a start from the gates.

Somewhere in the Wild West, two wrong-uns (David Arquette and Sid Haig) stumble into an Indian burial ground and are attacked by a tribe. Haig is killed and Arquette makes his way to the nearest town, unaware that he is being tracked. When two of the townsfolk are abducted, Sheriff Hunt (Kurt Russell) forms a posse to begin pursuit, unaware that those they are hunting are 'troglodytes,' sub-human, mute cannibals, feared by both indigenous and white men alike.

All are either killed or kidnapped and this is where events begin to take a disturbing turn for the worse - worse being the understatement of the century. Trapped in a makeshift cave cage, Hunt and bumbling deputy Chicory watch in horror as Nick, one of those kidnapped initially, is dragged to his feet and stripped naked.

There's no polite way of describing any of this: He is first scalped, his scalp is then stuffed into his screaming mouth and pegged in place with a wooden stake.

It doesn't stop there. Nick is raised upside down by his ankles and then literally hacked in half down the middle with a sharpened animal jaw bone, beginning with his dangly bits. Pass the bucket please.
