10 Shocking Movie Scenes Directors Later Regretted
2. The Rape – Shinjuku Triad Society
Takashi Miike appears to take great delight grossing out or horrifying viewers; he didn’t make Visitor Q, Audition or Ichi The Killer by accident. Often the violence in his films comes with some black humour to make it bearable, but there’s one scene in his 1995 gangster drama Shinjuku Triad Society he feels sorry for including.
The film is a violent odyssey filled with murder, torture and sexual violence, with even the “hero” cop of the movie assaulting the female lead during one scene. If that wasn’t nasty enough, she then falls in love with him afterwards, since she achieved orgasm during the ordeal.
While Miike is someone who loves adding bad taste to his work, even he admits this was way too much, and wishes he hadn’t included it.
