10 Shudder Originals You Must Watch For Halloween 2020

5. Blood Quantum

Terrified Aterrados
XYZ Films

If there was ever a zombie film that the godfather George A. Romero should have been able to watch before his passing, it's Blood Quantum. Not only does it do him and the genre proud, it stands on its own two feet as a horror movie full of social commentary on the painful consequences of colonialism.

After a zombie virus ravages the world around them, the Red Crow Indian Reservation and its people find themselves unusually immune to the virus. As they barricade the reservation off from the outside world, the indigenous population find themselves at war with one another as to whether they should be bringing outsiders within their walls for fear of death and devastation.

Much better than most bargain bin zombie fare released these days, Blood Quantum is a refreshing story that features a diverse and underrepresented community in lead roles. This is the kind of thing that makes the horror genre so damn great, and fingers crossed we see more of it.
