10 Signs DC Will Dominate Marvel At The Box Office (Eventually)
1. DC Has Already Built A Solid Stable Of Characters
Love them or hate them, the DCEU films achieved what they set out to do: create a cinematic universe populated by intriguing characters audiences are eager to see again on the big screen.
Despite a barrage of critical hate, the stellar performances of Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot shone through to moviegoers. Robbie’s portrayal of fan favourite Harley Quinn was well-received enough to earn her a solo feature and a role as executive producer on Harley's upcoming film.
As I discussed before, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is poised to make box office history and launch a massive franchise. Anticipation is also running high for Affleck's solo Batman feature. Each one of these heroes has the potential to drive high-grossing franchises, which will be crucial if the DCEU hopes to catch up and overtake Marvel's box office tally.
The gulf between Marvel and DC isn't as wide as critics would have audiences believe and the DCEU's future looks bright. Pundits can write all the snarky headlines they want to about the DCEU, but, when the dust is settled and the final tickets sales are counted, Warner Bros could very well be having the last laugh.
