10 Signs DC Will Dominate Marvel At The Box Office (Eventually)

2. Wonder Woman Is Poised To Make History

In 2017, the DCEU is set to exploit another Marvel misstep. Scarlet Johansson’s performance as black widow in The Avengers earned her legions of fans. The time was right for Marvel to capitalize on Black Widow’s girl power and create the first big budget female-led superhero blockbuster; however, the studio totally dropped the ball.

Rather than letting Black Widow shine in her own solo film, Marvel relegated her to a supporting player status. This oversight looks especially egregious in retrospect after Johansson conquered the box office with 2014's Lucy, a movie featuring a crime fighting superpowered Scarjo.

Marvel’s loss is DC’s gain. Gal Gadot’s performance as Wonder Woman in BvS earned high praise despite the movie's lacklustre critical reception and, unlike Marvel, the DCEU is capitalizing Gadot's breakout performance by releasing Wonder Woman hot on the heels of BvS.

Now, one of the most beloved female characters of all-time is going to annihilate the box office while leaving Marvel’s sausage party in the dust. If Wonder Woman can live up to the potential of its stellar trailer then it will shatter the box office’s glass ceiling into a million pieces and reap a financial bonanza.
