10 Signs DC Will Dominate Marvel At The Box Office (Eventually)

3. Marvel Has Lost The Plot

As I stated before, it’s hard to find fault with Marvel’s cinematic universe building acumen. What is easy to find fault with is the studio’s inability to craft a compelling overarching narrative for its films. The Avenger's post credits Thanos teaser caused a big stir back in 2012, but Marvel failed to nurture Thanos' hype and only a couple of Marvel movies since then have bothered to develop the Infinity Gauntlet storyline in any meaningful way.

These days, pundits and fans hardly ever discuss Thanos, and it seems that the time for the Avengers’ archenemy to make a big impact on audiences has passed.

The DCEU approach to its major villains has been more astute because its jumping straight to the fireworks. BvS hinted that Superman villain Darkseid will be doing battle with the Justice League in the not too distant future, and the villain of the first Justice League feature will be the immensely powerful Steppenwolf, Darkseid’s uncle.

DC wisely chose to not make audiences’ wait for its superhero team to clash with an overpowered demigod and there’s potential for the DCEU to scoop Marvel by delivering galaxy-spanning superhero mayhem well before the release of Infinity Wars.
