10 Simple Fixes That Would Have Saved The Star Wars Prequels

8. Padmé Should Have Survived To Start The Rebellion At The End Of Episode III

Poor Natalie Portman. She tried her best with the scripts she was given, but, like Ewan McGregor, suffered to the point that she struggled to get good acting roles after the trilogy ended. The trouble is that she was a wasted character, particularly in Revenge Of The Sith. George Lucas seemed to forget the whole scene between Luke and Leia in Return Of The Jedi where she talked about their mother. In the film, she sat around secretly pregnant, looked worried, tried to stop Anakin, gave birth to the twins and and died. But it could have been so much more. What if Padmé hadn't died in childbirth at the end of Revenge Of The Sith, instead going off to forge the rebellion against the newly formed Galactic Empire, hidden away in secret with Leia? This change could have been so simple. While a 'fake' funeral is staged on Naboo, audiences could have been treated to an extra scene between Padmé, a young Mon Motha, Bail Organa and other powerful figures uniting to fight Emperor Palpatine and her fallen lover turned Sith . Given everything that had been established about her character in the previous films, this would have been a much better ending then simply giving up and dying.
