10 Slasher Movies That Never Got A Sequel (But Should Have)

7. The Prowler

The killer in The Prowler doesn't wear a hockey mask or gloves; instead, he wears a combat uniform, reflecting the anxiety over returning from war and never being the same again. In the opening sequence, a woman named Rosemary breaks up with her boyfriend who's in the army, but while hanging out with her new boyfriend after their graduation dance, a man in uniform comes and murders both of them.

Yep, the murderer in this one isn't getting revenge on camp counsellors or parents who burnt him to death. He's just a guy who was broken up with and is super pissed off. Sure, why not? The graduation dance hasn't been held since the murders, but 35 years later, the school decides to bring it back. Low and behold, the killer returns, this time seemingly murdering people just for the fun of it. Joseph Zito, director of Friday the 13th Part IV, gives the film a creepy atmosphere, but there's really one reason to watch The Prowler: Tom Savini. The legendary makeup artist creates some of the best death sequences in slasher history, far more brutal than most of Freddy and Jason's work.

The Prowler could have easily come back for more, but the movie was yet another victim of being released in 1981, the year of way too many slashers.
