10 Slasher Movies That Never Got A Sequel (But Should Have)

6. My Bloody Valentine

You'll never guess what year My Bloody Valentine came out in. Yep, 1981 once again. This is probably the most well known of all of the '81, non-franchise slasher flicks, but at the time it wasn't quite as well received.

In My Bloody Valentine, the killer is a dude in mining gear who uses a pickaxe to kill people. That sure is unique. The film takes place in a small town as they prepare to hold a Valentine's Day dance 25 years after a mining accident trapped five men underground. They were trapped because their idiot supervisors left their post to go to a Valentine's Day dance, so the only survivor got his revenge by murdering both of them. He warned the town to never have another Valentine's Day dance, but 25 years later, they decide to blatantly ignore that warning and hold one. What could go wrong?

It's a really fun slasher with a memorable villain in Harry Warden, and if you're just looking for bloody and innovative kills, you're in for a treat. There's also quite a lot of heart related violence, as you'd expect from the title. The killer remains alive when the credits roll, and a sequel is teased, but its disappointing box office performance meant that fans would only get a 3D remake 30 years later rather than the franchise they deserved.
