10 Slasher Movies That Never Got A Sequel (But Should Have)

In Just Before Dawn, five campers head out into the woods, ignoring the advice of a ranger who tells them to turn back. Then, a hunter who just watched his friend get murdered tells them to turn around, and they still keep going. As you can see, this is one of those slashers where all the characters clearly deserve to die.

The campers are murdered one by one until, about two thirds of the way through, there's a reveal that makes this film stand out from its competition: there's more than one killer, as the murderer has an identical twin. One of the brothers will hack the person to death with his meat cleaver while the other one films the entire thing. That idea of a murderer recording his victims would later become a huge cliche, but here's a movie doing it back in 1981.

Jeff Lieberman effectively captures the claustrophobia of being trapped in the woods with not one but two killers, even though it might not quite satisfy the most blood thirsty fans. If Wrong Turn could get five sequels, why couldn't Just Before Dawn get one? It would have been interesting to see a slasher franchise that follows a pair of brothers, but only on home video years later did anyone care about this movie.
