9. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
What Everyone Remembers: A bloated and horribly underwhelming sign-off to an otherwise brilliant series of comic book movies,
Spider-Man 3 saw director Sam Raimi dropping the ball in more ways than one. Too many villains, too much CGI, too many unnecessary, bizarre and cringeworthy scenes... an amateurish work that took all the good things about its predecessor and pointlessly inverted them.
Why It's Nowhere Near As Bad: Spider-Man 3 is, in no way, as good as either the first or second movies in the franchise, but for all its failings, this is a popcorn movie that still works far better than most blockbusters do. That's not to excuse its most fatal element, of course, which came in the form of having far too many villains for a single movie, but other than that, this isn't anywhere near painful to sit through. For the most part, it's good fun - especially in the first half. Its reputation as a terrible film mainly comes due to its comparison with the near-perfect
Spider-Man 2, so whereas the disappointment is understandable, it's not entirely fair. Give it another shot (with an open mind), and you might find that
Spider-Man 3 feels kind of like a prisoner who was given a wrongful sentence.
