10 Slated Movies That Are Nowhere Near As Bad As You Remember

10. Hostel (2005)

Hostel1What Everyone Remembers: A crude, bloody and pointlessly violent movie that exists only to show people getting butchered and tortured in a bunch of sadistic and cruel ways. Just another pointless addition to the torture porn genre, right? Why It's Nowhere Near As Bad: Hostel is an incredibly misunderstood movie in a lot of ways, mainly because its more subtle and intelligent moments are overshadowed by its... well, horrifically violent ones. But when you begin to look at it as no holds barred exploitation movie homage (which it totally is) and not the bad torture porn movie that everybody slates it for, you begin to see the flick as director Eli Roth originally intended. Hostel isn't supposed to creep you out as much as it's supposed to entertain you, and - to give it credit where credit's due - the movie also works as a nice analogy for our society's obsession with consumerism. It's fun!
