10 Slickest Movie Rides Of All Time

2. The Batmobile - Batman (1989)

Batman Though the Tumbler in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies might be more efficiently destructive, there's something to be said for the cool slickness of Tim Burton's Batmobile, which is based on the chassis of a Chevy Impala. Much like James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, this is absolutely packed to the rafters with gadgets, including bombs that can be fired, an afterburner to achieve higher speeds, machine guns, a grappling hook, oil dispensers, smoke screen emitters, a voice-recognition system, an array of shields, and in Batman Returns, the sides even break away to turn it into a "Batmissile" than can navigate tighter spaces. The design of the vehicle is very much in tune with the rest of Burton's German expressionist aesthetic, with its elongated, angular look that is anything but realistic. It totally worked for Burton's movies, and though Nolan's Tumbler is arguably a more impressive, down-to-Earth beast, I can't help but be seduced by the mythic quality of this car.
