10 Small Changes That Would Fix Terrible Films

1. Get Rid Of Jar Jar (Or Have Him Die Horribly) - Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

The Problem: Of all the things people malign the undeniably underwhelming Star Wars Episode I for, Jar Jar Binks is almost always at the top of the list. Even with midichlorians, "Now THIS is pod racing!", Darth Maul's easy death and so much more, Jar Jar is the one element that renders the film truly painful to watch. His annoying voice and clear inclusion solely to sell more toys reflects George Lucas' instincts at their very worst, and despite audiences rejecting him from the outset, he was included in both Star Wars follow-ups, even if he was never quite as irritating as in the first film.

Why It Would Fix The Film: As we've said, The Phantom Menace would still be a heavily flawed film even without Jar Jar, but at least we wouldn't want to jam things in our ears quite so much when watching it, and it'd just be "disappointing" rather than "terrible". On the other hand, another way to fix it is to simply include Jar Jar dying violently: one fan has already cobbled together his own brilliantly edited death scene.
