2018's Halloween saw the return of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. Having ignored the previous entries except the 1978 original, the film took place 40 years after the Shape killed multiple people. During that gap, Laurie prepared for the worst as she believed Michael's return was inevitable.

During the film's climax, Michael follows Strode, her daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson into Laurie's fortified home. Moments later, the Shape corners the latter two. Feigning fear, Karen lures Michael in the right position until Laurie gets the killer down in the basement. This is then revealed to have been part of Laurie's plan. For 40 years, she had been preparing and fortified her house, in hope of luring Myers inside. From there, she turns her home into a makeshift cage, trapping her target while setting up gas in order to spark a flame.

With nowhere to go, Michael was helpless as the room around him was set ablaze. It was the perfect ending to the film, with our hero finally getting the best of the unstoppable Myers. Despite the picture being followed by Halloween Kills and the upcoming Halloween Ends, Laurie's trap for Michael remains one of the series' best sequences.
