8. Sam (Almost) Leaves Woodsboro - Scream (2022)
After poor Dewey is killed by Ghostface in the newest movie, protagonist Sam (Melissa Barrera) decides to use her brain and, as she says, do the one thing that nobody ever does in these situations: get the f**k out of Woodsboro.
And so, despite Sid and Gale pleading with her to stay in town to help defeat the killer(s), Sam high-tails it out of Woodsboro with her sister Tara (Jenna Ortega) and boyfriend Richie (Jack Quaid).
For a moment, it seems like quite literally the smartest thing any character in a Scream movie has ever done, and absolutely would've been if Sam committed to the follow-through.
But of course circumstances contrived to force Sam and company back into town - Tara "misplaces" her inhaler, prompting a frustrated Richie to head back to Woodsboro.
Yet as we later find out, Richie, who is revealed to be one of the killers, actually took Tara's inhaler to prevent them from leaving Woodsboro outright.
If Sam's taste in men were better, this truly would've been the all-time smartest move from any Scream film.
