10 Smartest Horror Movie Decisions (That Still Got People Killed)

1. Moving Out Of The House - Sinister

10 Cloverfield Lane

Ellison, bless him, doesn't really think things through in the establishing events of Sinister. That he believes it's a grand idea to move his whole family into a horrendous crime scene (that he hides from them!) is evidence enough, subsequently getting overwhelmed with snuff movies and supernatural happenings in classic 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' form.

Upon seeing a particularly spooky demon in his loft though, he decides its the last straw, and swiftly carts his family out again.

In theory, this is a very smart decision to rectify his particularly thick one by moving there at all. Shouting 'hell no' at interdimensional terrors and running to safety is a habit more horror movie protagonists should be learning, but unfortunately, Ellison has once again accidentally charged into something much bigger than him without thinking.

Turns out that by moving, he's fulfilled some kind of ritual, as every family in an interconnected group of grisly murders dies shortly after moving from a previous crime scene and into a new house. By fleeing his haunted home, Ellison has effectively doomed himself, his wife, and his son to Bughuul, who happily possesses his daughter Ashley for a dose of bloody "House Painting." Whoops.
