10 Smutty Movies Which Somehow Got Rated PG In The 1980s

5. Clash Of The Titans (1981)

For what proved to be his final film, legendary stop-motion animation FX master Ray Harryhausen returned to the arena of Greek mythology in what might easily be classed as a spiritual sequel to his masterpiece, Jason and the Argonauts. However, while the 1963 classic more than matches its 1981 counterpart for extraordinary creatures, it didn't have nearly as much bare flesh on show. The above shot of Judi Bowker's Andromeda rising from her bath may not be overtly sensual, and it avoids a frontal angle, but even so the shot clearly lingers a little longer than strictly necessary. More notable, however, is the early frontal topless shot of Vida Taylor's Danaƫ - though again, we can't accuse that of being sexual given she's nursing the baby Perseus at the time. However, the following rear shot of Taylor and the infant Perseus walking hand in hand down the beach, both naked, is perhaps a little more questionable: it may be perfectly innocent for a mother and young son to do so, but are the ones behind the camera so wholesome in their intent? In any case, Clash of the Titans has also been reclassified as a 12 on DVD.
