10 Songs That Got Popular After Being Used In Movies

4. In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel

If there was a perfect way to put together a great soundtrack for a movie, Cameron Crowe would practically need to be tested by scientists to figure out his genius. Coming from a background working in Rolling Stone, Crowe's films always have the perfect song to set the scene with, whether that's Tom Cruise's desensitized world with Radiohead in Vanilla Sky or making the one stop shop for grunge on his movie Singles. His heart has always been in rom coms though, and Say Anything may have one of the most heartfelt songs that have ever been put in a movie.

In the context of the film Say Anything, John Cusack is back at ground zero, having already screwed up and now left jaded after his girlfriend has called it off between them. Having no other option but music, seeing him blast Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes on a boombox over his head might be the only thing that could save his romance, and it's not like Peter doesn't get the assignment either.

Going through the lyrics of this song, Peter talks about love on a much more spiritual level, with the eyes of his lover being the doorway to a thousand churches and wanting to become one with that kind of light and heat. It may have been a longshot for any boyfriend to use at this point in the film, but if this song wouldn't help you get back with your old flame, chances are nothing will.
