2019's Ad Astra was another film that appeared to offer one thing and instead delivered another, and whilst it may have divided audiences, there is no denying that it succeeded in presenting a fresh take on the space movie genre.

Sometimes the very best space films are divisive, but this could actually be considered as one of the films strengths. It certainly gets people talking and it proves as well that the power of cinema is not something entirely universal, and can in fact be deeply personal.

Ad Astra is introspective and reflective in tone, focusing on the strained relationship between Brad Pitt's Roy McBride, and his father.

This is undoubtedly the kind of film that benefits from multiple watches, as it's multi-layered and thematically rich plot has more to offer every single time.
